Composites UK is organising its second composites showcase of the year, this time covering the topic of fiber reinforced polymer composites (FRPs) in renewable energy.
This sector is a new addition to the showcase series and takes place at Glasgow Caledonian University, UK, on 19 July 2018.
The UK is reportedly seeking to generate 15% of its power requirements from renewable sources by 2020 and the sector requires continued support, particularly at the design stage, to ensure all aspects of production, from offshore wind blades to towers and nacelles, are not overlooked.
‘As stated in the 2016 Composites Industry Strategy, there will be accelerated organic growth in the established composites-using sectors like renewables, predicting a £50 million sector increase by 2020, and a further £230 million increase by 2030,’ said Claire Whysall, communications manager. ‘It is important that we are supporting this growth through networking and new partnerships.’
Composites UK are currently welcoming case study submissions for presentation at the event as well as table-top exhibition space bookings for those supplying into the sector.
